Great Britain. 1993-1994, Lot of 2 pieces, Both are £10, P-386a, with Kentfield signature, Includes a polymer paper trial on DuraNote polymer paper, the note is cut off center in the middle so the Queen's portrait is on the left, dated Nov. 7 1994 on top in pink, no serial number, back fully printed but Charles Dickens photograph is on the left, the imprint on the bottom of the note is from the correct 1993 Modified Issue, the note is crisp XF due to 2 vertical folds from archival storage; also includes a regular issued note on normal watermarked paper for P-386 for reference in AU condition. DuraNote polymer paper was developed in a joint venture between Mobil and Agra, DuraNote was an innovative synthetic bank note paper with the capability of embedding anti-counterfeiting devices between its substrates. Unfortunately, Mobil merged with Exxon and the project was halted. This is one of the extremely rare examples from the testing of early polymer paper that was ahead of its time that the Bank of England and Mobil printed in paper and production trials.
