Massachusetts. 1802 Military document with very detailed Muster-Roll instructions on front, black text, with William Donnison, Adjutant-General at bottom. William Donnison (1754-1834) was an American soldier for the Massachusetts Militia for more than 10 years. Donnison fought in the Revolutionary War and was the aide to Massachusetts Governor Hancock in 1786 before becoming Adjutant General in 1788. He served in the role of Adjutant General until 1813. On the back of the document is a handwritten Muster-Roll of an 1802 Foot Company, with the names and ranks of enlisted soldiers, some print is faint and difficult to read. Piece is in Fragile condition with significant damage and staining. Interestingly, a split at the bottom has been stitched back together and repaired with thread. Unusual piece related to early American military history.
