ABNC Correspondence to Brazilian Commission to the Louisiana Purchase Expo Correspondence.St.Louis, MO, January 10, 1905. 5 Page correspondence file that is mounted in file folder with heading BRAZIL - Inquiries on Part of President of Brazilian commission to the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, Looking to the Establishment of a Printing Bureau in Brazil - consisting of 3 Letters. The first letter is from john F. Mangle (evidently an agent or representative of ABNC) describing his relationship with the president of the commission and that even though Brazil had given there current (1905 era) banknote work to a French Company (Printer: Georges Duval Inv.et del), Mangle felt he could regain the Brazilian work. He requests attractive banknote, stamp and bond samples for the president of the commission, F.M.deSouza Aquiar, and there is a lot more interesting information I have left out; The second letter is on the Brazilian Commission to the Louisiana Purchase Letterhead from De Souza Aquiar with gold Brazilian arms on upper left dated January 23rd, 1905, addressed to the American Bank Note Company, He mentions that he has requested paper samples from Crane for Banknotes and stamps and requests ABNC to send him the paper samples instead; the third letter is a file copy of the letter sent to De Souza Aquiar dated January 30, 1905 from a Vice President at ABNC thanking him and stating that ABNC does not sell their paper. Unique archival correspondence with rare Exposition tie in. ABNC.
