Philadelphia, 1897, Green print with steamship top left, Letter asking for information regarding a mining expedition to the Klondike area at the start of the Yukon-Klondyke Gold rush, “I would thank you to give me all the information you have or can conveniently procure respecting the trail from Ashcroft-via Soda Creek-Hazleton-Ques-Nettle Forks-Mud River Crossing-Telegraph Creek to Teslin Lake. I would like to know what facilities are afforded for crossing the rivers at what is known as Indian Ferries. There will be about fifty men in our expedition and we will have not less than fifty tons of supplies consisting the usual outfit also a portable saw-mill boiler and engines. Can the latter be taken over this rout? Is it possible for sleds and wagons? ... Could you place me in communication with two or more men to act as guides over this rout(e). I would want men who had been over the rout(e) and knew it thoroughly from start to finish. VF condition, historic piece of Alaska goldrush ephemera.
