Includes illustrated checks and drafts from Carlisle Deposit Bank; Medina Bank, New York State; Henry H. Shufeldt, Distiller of Domestic Spirits, Chicago, Illinois; Merchants’ Bank of Baltimore; Sisson & Chapman, Banking Office; Cornelius & Baker, Philadelphia; Bank of Ulster, New York; Morton, Bliss & Co., New York, payable in London; New York State Bank; and a sterling draft issued by Kidder, Peabody & Co., Boston, payable through Messrs. Baring Brothers & Co., London. Designs feature finely engraved allegorical figures, pastoral and industrial vignettes, ornate borders, manuscript entries, signatures, and applied revenue stamps.
