Great Britain & Ireland, 1894. Issued Indenture certifying that Albert George Huggett, with the consent of his father, has been named Apprentice to William Thomas Carter Palmer, "Printer and Stationer" located in the County of Kent. The document then describes and outlines the relationship between the Apprentice and Master, such as asserting that the Apprentice "shall do no damage to his said Master...He shall not waste the Goods of his said Master," among other details including that he shall not get married; and, "Play at cards or dice tables oor any other unlawful games; "he shall not haunt taverns or playhouses. The Master, in turn, would provide payment which is stipulated at the bottom in handwriting. After 7 years of apprenticeship, Huggett will have been taught the "Art of Printing, Bookselling, Stationary, etc." and can go on to instruct others in the art. The document was created and signed during the reign of Queen Victoria, who is mentioned at bottom left. Black handwriting and text, Two Shillings and 6 Pence Internal revenue stamp at center left in bright red color. Signed by the Apprentice, his father, and the Master at bottom right. VF condition for age and printed on parchment type of paper. Interesting piece.
