Auction Details

On behalf of the entire Archives International Auctions team, I would like to personally welcome you to our nineteenth exciting auction we have held over the last eight years. We are offering over 600 lots of U.S. and Worldwide Banknotes, Scripophily, Autographs & Security Printing Ephemera at our offices in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
The auction begins with over 330 lots of worldwide banknotes. We are proud to be offering the first installment of “The Tasmanian Devil Collection” of rare Australian & Worldwide Banknotes including Specimens and Replacement notes that rarely come to auction and represent one of the largest offerings of rare Australian material from “Down Under” to be offered in the United States in years if not decades. Highlights from “The Tasmanian Devil collection include a ND (1974) Specimen Set of 6 notes from $1 to $50; A Gem Uncirculated $20 ND (1984) Serial No. “1” note; numerous replacement notes dating from 1949 to 1968 as well as early Australian and New Zealand rarities. Additionally we are offering further selections from the “Hamtramck Collection”, put together by a career military officer over a 50 year period and also the second installment of the “Scarsdale Collection” of modern African banknotes.
An exciting group autographs and ephemera are being offered including a historic Samuel F.B. Morse autographed letter; Francis Spinner letters, some with significant historic content; 4 different California “Gold Rush Era” Clipper Cards; Civil War Letters along with dozens of other interesting and historic documents, autographs and letters.
U.S Banknotes & Federal Documents are well represented by many exciting items including a U.S. WWII Emergency Issue, $20, 1934, Fr#2304m*, Mule Star Banknote; a Bank of America, 1879 Specimen $10,000 Clearing House Certificate; a South Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, 1883 USA Postal Note, S/N 4; U.S. Liberty Loan Bonds and an extremely rare War of 1812 Capital Funded Stock Receipt Remainder (R-8) recently discovered at a small book show as well as dozens of other interesting and desirable banknotes and ephemera.
There are close to 100 lots of scripophily including banking, finance, navigation, railroads, Worldwide and interesting rare certificates including an amazing Accelerating Steam Navigation Co., 1852 Stock certificate with a unique dirigible vignette.
We are looking forward to another exciting auction and hope you enjoy our current offerings. We expect to have at least 2 more auctions in 2014 including serving as the official auctioneer for the Fourth Annual Wall Street Coin, Currency, Collectibles & Scripophily show scheduled for late October, 2014 to be held at the Museum of American Finance on Wall Street. We are also anticipating another Hong Kong Auction toward the end of this year or early 2015. If you have suitable material, we are still seeking consignments for our October and late fall - early winter auctions.
