Rome. 187x (ca.1871-1872). 500 Lire, P-S977 Unlisted Specimen "Certificado Di Deposito". Black with no underprint, Germania with shield and spear at left, with ornate title, designs and text, back has prospectus of interest in black on m/c underprint. Specimen overprint and POC's. No serial numbers. Payable with 2.4% interest per year. The bank was formed in 1871 and immediately issued banknotes. Unpriced as issued in SCWPM. Extremely ornate and attractive and first time seen by this cataloger. Uncirculated to CU condition. A prize for the descriminating collector. One of two different denominations of this issue recently discovered. BW&C.
