Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, 1829, 40 Milreis, P-S215, issued banknote, Black on white paper, cherub and young Mercury on left and right with allegorical bearded man pouring water from jug in middle top, back with allegorical women on top and bottom corners with title of bank in strip in middle and signature on left, the left 1/5th of the note was cut as intended to prevent counterfeiting, S/N 1962 on right, Banco do Brazil, hand signed. An exceptionally rare issued note from the first and most important bank in Brazil, printed in London by Perkins Bacon & Co. Missing in virtually every Brazilian collection.
