Bangor, Maine. 1838, Uncut vertical pair, $10=1 Share - $100=10 Shares, Stock Certificate - Obsolete Banknote Look-a-like that evidently could circulate if desired as money. I/U, Both with same design of patriotic sailor with flag at left, allegorical woman at right and seated seamstress in middle top. Black printing without underprint, both endorsed on the back so that they could be transferred to the bearer. Choice AU to Uncirculated condition. Extremely rare as an uncut pair of notes. The last line of the text on the face states "Each Share of the par value of $10 and is transferable by endorsement of the original owner which these notes are. Evidently issued during the financial panic of 1837 with the intent of being utilized as currency if necessary. DTL&C, Phila.& NY.
