New Jersey & New York., 1853-79. Lot of 2 Certificates, Includes: Bank of America, 1853, 50 Shares Capital Stock I/C Certificate, S/N 17, Fine to VF condition with ; Malaga Glass & Manufacturing Co., 1879, $1000 I/U 6% First Mortgage Coupon Bond, S/N 13, VF to XF condition. The Malaga Glass & Manufacturing Co., established in 1879, was a notable glassworks company. Located on Main Street near Newfield Road in Gloucester County, New Jersey (specifically in Malaga), it contributed to the NJ glass industry during its time. The company likely produced a variety of glass products, but further historical details would require additional research. It’s fascinating to think about the craftsmanship and innovation that went into creating glassware during that era. In the 1870s, proprietors of the Malaga Glass Works were William Rosenbaum and J.E. Sharp. About 80 people were employed. The property included a large number of dwellings. Malaga had a population of 250. The company closed in 1880.
