Brazil. ca.1860's-1920's. 21 different vignette proofs of buildings, allegorical figures and Brazil Arms. All are printed on india paper and mounted on manila cards or are printed on india paper only. All of the vignettes are from ABNC. Banknotes that are represented by vignettes from this lot includes No Banco Do Brasil, 1860's No Date issue, P-S251, 25 Mil Reis, Unpriced in SCWPM; Imperio Do Brasil banknotes: P-A244, Estampa 5, 1870-78,1 Mil Reis; P-A245, 2 Mil Reis; P-A252, Estampa 6, 1869-82, 10 Mil Reis; P-A255, Estampa 7, 1869-83, 1 Mil Reis; and P-A257, 5 Mil Reis; P-A258, 10 Mil Reis. I addition, there are a number of vignettes that are probably back proofs or have not been pictured in the reference books that are included. Some of the titles include "The Docks and Arsenal at Rio De Janiero" (4 different color LDP's); "Republica Dos Estados Unidos Do Brasil" of an impressive building (2 different colors); "Gloria Hill"; "Brasileira" an impressive allegorical figure leaning on Arms of Brazil and other vignettes. All impressive and attractive engravings. Condition ranges between VF to choice uncirculated condition. An interesting study of Brazilian vignettes used on various banknote issues. Rare group with many unique items from the archives. ABNC.
