Amsterdam, Netherlands...... MISSISSIPPI OF ÔT WYDEFAAMDE GOUDLAND DOOR DE INBEELDING, Amsterdam, 1720. 10Ó x 15Ó. Dutch text. Underneath the title, a well-executed woodcut depicts an artistÕs conception of the Mississippi River Valley. There is a vertical fold, and a short repaired edge split, otherwise generally Very Fine. From a Dutch collection of broadsides entitled HET GROOTE TAFEREEL DER DWAASHEID (The Great Mirror of Folly). Like the South Seas Company, John LawÕs Mississippi Company was a speculative land scheme that promised an investment in a virtual paradise, but delivered little or nothing for most investors.
