Lot of 6 Financial and Remittance Documents, Includes: American Express Co. drafts and forms and Wells, Fargo & Co. banking and remittance drafts, consisting of handwritten payment orders, transfer drafts, and a later American Express money order highlighted by an 1858, Wells, Butterfield & Co. Sight Draft signed by Daniel Butterfield (1831–1901), who was a prominent American businessman, Union general during the Civil War, and assistant treasurer of the United States. He received the Medal of Honor for gallantry at the Battle of Gaines' Mill, where he was wounded while rallying troops with a flag. He is best known for composing the bugle call "Taps" and was the son of John Butterfield, a co-founder of the American Express Company. Conditions range from Fine to Very Fine overall. (6).
