San Francisco, CA. Lot of 3 notes, Includes $5, PMG graded AU 50; $10, PMG graded AU 55; and $20, PMG graded AU 55, all have punched out cancels at signatures. Labeled as Remainders, these were very probably specimens from the printing company. First time seen in this format without serial numbers, unsigned and POC's, Rare (3). These certificates were issued as a result of the Panic of 1907, a financial crisis caused by a significant drop in the New York Stock Exchange and a subsequent run on banks. Clearing House Certificates were issued in place of paper money due to the crisis.
