Colorado, 1930. Lot of 2 Specimen Registered 4 1/2% Gold Bonds in different denominations and colors: $5000 in Gray and $10,000 in Purple, Both have same vignettes of locomotive, have Specimen overprints and POCs, are in VF to XF condition, and printed by ABNC. The Colorado and Southern Railway (C&S), founded in 1898, operated in Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico, serving mining towns and agricultural areas with both narrow and standard-gauge tracks. Known for its scenic mountain routes, the C&S became part of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad in 1908. (2). The $10,000 denomination is only known as a specimen, no issued examples known, the $5000 is unlisted in Cox. Both are rare with only 3 examples of each found in the ABNC Archives in 2002.
