Stratton, Mine was located in Cripple Creek Mining District, VF to XF condition. Elgan Bank Note Co. Winfield Scott Stratton was a pivotal figure in the Cripple Creek boom, famed for his 1891 discovery of the Independence Mine, one of the district’s richest gold producers. His early successes helped establish Cripple Creek as Colorado’s leading gold camp, and the company’s holdings reportedly included the Globe, Close Shave, Lady Stith, Deerborn, Deerborn No. 2, Pride of the Rockies, and the Callie claim on Gold Hill.
