(Offices and Inc. in New York),1864, 100 Shares I/U stock certificate, black print on white paper with ornate border, central vignette of a mill site and mining works beside a river, embossed seal at lower left, U.S. 25-cent revenue stamp affixed at left, S/N 57, signed by the company president and treasurer, the Platte River Gold Mining Company was incorporated in the mid-1860s to develop gold properties along the Platte River during the early Colorado mining expansion period, Choice VF condition or better, Printed by T. Sinclair’s Lith., Philadelphia. This certificate deserves further research. It is Issued to and signed by Henry S. Fargo, possibly the cofounder of American Express and Wells Fargo. Also, the South Platte River was a major center of activity during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush. Unlisted mine in Hollister. Rare and attractive Colorado Territory Certificate.
