Canada, 1885-1978. Lot of 13 Issued Checks, Political, and Satirical Notes, Includes: Maritime Bank of the Dominion of Canada, 1885, I/C check; a group of 1917-1919 checks with 2 Cent Admiral postage stamp issues used as revenue, Merchants Bank of Canada, 1917, I/C check with adhesive revenue; Imperial Bank of Canada, 1918, 7 I/C Checks with adhesive revenues and various Montreal, Windsor, and other branch handstamps on reverse; Lot includes Canadian political parody notes ca. 1960s to 1970s (“Diefendollar” and “Tru Dough Dollar”) referencing national economic policies and devaluation themes. Conditions range from Good to VF among the checks with typical folds, ink, toning, and punch cancels; parody notes show light handling overall. (13). Sold “AS IS” no returns accepted.
