New York, NY. 1889. Lot of 5, $1 Discount Certificates with ten, 10 Cent Coupons at the bottom. The text states they will give a 10 Cents per Dollar spent discount for every dollar spent. The Store was located in 2 locations, at 12 Astor Place, and at 455 6th Avenue in NYC. Well known hat manufacturer, Lucian A. Chapin, committed suicide in a church in early February of 1904. Certificates range from Good to VF condition with toning, minor edge faults and foxing, still interesting. Usually seen as an advertising obsolete banknote, not a stock or bond certificate look-a-like. (5). Sold "AS IS" no returns accepted.
