NY. 1913. 50 Shares, I/U, Black on light gold-brown border, photo vignette of sailing ship in middle, Issued to Emmet Addis and signed by the president Charles D. Durkee as president of the Durkee Manufacturing Company of Grasmere, Staten Island and a native of Brooklyn, where he was well known, rose from a clerkship to the head of one of the leading marine hardware concerns. He was past master of Covenant Lodge, 758, F&AM and belonged to several other Brooklyn organizations. Merchants of marine hardware including gears, rope, whistles, life preservers, plumbing, cushions, upholstery, compasses, capstans, anchors, windlasses, flags, furniture, fittings etc., C.D. Durkee was known as the ñTiffany of the Tradeî. Revered as one of the finest outfitters of motorboat equipment in the country, Durkee supplied equipment for the construction of the Panama Canal between 1904 - 1914. C.D. Durkee was a member of the New York Yacht Club, The Brooklyn & Bensonhurst Yacht Clubs and the Arcanum Yacht Club in Sheepshead Bay where he raced his Class V catboat "Boozie". Fine condition with tape reinforced splits on top vertical folds, rare navigation stock certificate from this well known marine hardware manufacturer.
