The Chicago, Indianapolis and Louisville Railway Company, commonly known as the "C, I & L," was a railroad that operated in the Midwest, connecting Chicago, Illinois, with Indianapolis, Indiana, and Louisville, Kentucky. Founded in the late 19th century, it facilitated transportation and trade between these major cities, serving both passenger and freight traffic, particularly for agricultural and industrial products. In 1930, the C, I & L became part of the Pennsylvania Railroad system, which helped consolidate rail operations in the region.
