The auction will take place at the 3 WEST CLUB at 3 W. 51st Street (at Fifth Avenue), New York, NY 10019
Valparaiso, Chile, 18xx (ca.1881). 5 Pesos, P-S498, Unlisted Specimen, Black on blue and orange underprint, two young cherubs in middle flanked by allegorical woman and child on left and cherubs and shield on lower right, back is blue with men harvesting grain with horses, two coupon like counterfoils on left, red specimen overprints, POC's and "00000" serial numbers. The note appears Choice Uncirculated with bright colors, large margins and an amazing and artistic design, but unfortunately it has a light horizontal fold starting at the left 1/2 inch from the bottom margin that is difficult to see and would place this note as a Choice AU instead of Uncirculated. Rare and very attractive banknote that is unpriced in SCWPM and is missing from most advanced collections. This note was originally from the November 1990 ABNC auction held at Christie's in New York and this is the first time it has been offered in 20 years.
