China. 1949. Central Bank of China, 5000 Gold Yuan, S/M#C302, Pick Unlisted, Back Printer's Design Specimen Banknote, dated 3-30-49 at upper right, red SPECIMEN overprints. PMG graded Choice Uncirculated 64. Printer: Security Banknote Company. The Gold Yuan replaced China's hyperinflated Fabi currency in August 1948 but itself collapsed into hyperinflation within about a year, making late high-denomination issues like this one common survivors from the currency's final months.
