New Orleans, Louisiana, 1861-62. 2 pieces, attached via green embossed seal: 1861 Promissory note, stating that $4,500 is owed to J. H. & J. M. Allen Co. in 8 months time, black text and handwriting, Fine condition with a center tear at bottom; Lot also includes an 1862 document from Walter H. Peters, Commercial and Marine Notary and Commissioner of Deeds, on State of Louisiana, Parish of Orleans - City of New Orleans letterhead, Black text and handwriting, certifying that the money owed was never received by the firm, also in Fine condition with some toning. (2)
