U.S., Lot of 6 coins.... Includes: 1798 Large U.S. Cent in poor condition, difficult to see details from wear; 1789 Connecticut copper coin, difficult to see details; 1853, 3 Cent silver coin, The three-cent coin was proposed in 1851 both as a result of the decrease in postage rates from five cents to three and to answer the need for a small-denomination, easy-to-handle coin. The three-cent silver featured a shield on a six-sided star on the obverse and the Roman numeral III on the reverse; 1865, 2 Cent coin, Obverse with shield, Reverse with wheat wreath. The economic turmoil of the American Civil War caused government-issued coins, even the non-silver Indian Head cent, to vanish from circulation, hoarded by the public. One means of filling this gap was private token issues, often made of bronze; 1876 coin, Obverse with seated liberty, reverse with difficult to decipher marks; 18-- Trinidad Chapter No. 28 1 Penny coin, may be from a Freemason Chapter in Trinidad, Colorado. (6) (SOLD AS IS, NO RETURN ACCEPTED)
