Shanghai, China, 1920. $100, P-8s, S/M#C293-47, Specimen Banknote, Olive green on m/c underprint with Worthy standing at center, Back purple with medallion supported by 2 lions, S/N 000000, The top selvage has date, and order number "AUG 27 1924 - F7689 - Return to CLEARING DEPT. - HELD FOR REFERENCE", PMG graded Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ with comments "selvage included & printer's stamp". Printer: ABNC. Tied with one other note as highest graded in the PMG census out of only 5 graded by PMG. A wonderful large format note that will be impossible to improve upon and is missing from most advanced collections. Only 1 other example of the $100 denomination has previously been sold at auction, which we had the privilege to offer in 2012 where it hammered for $5,310.
