Pennsylvania, 1842. $17.25 I/C 6% Stock Certificate, S/N 657, Black text, Pennsylvania coat of arms at center left, Cut Cancelled. Fine condition with toning and damage along margins. Issued by the Treasury Department to "provide for the ordinary expenses of the government, payment of the interest on the State debt, receiving of proposals for the sale of the public works, and for other purposes." Signed by Job Mann (March 31, 1795 - October 8, 1873) as State Treasurer. Mann was a Jacksonian and Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. He served as Treasurer of Pennsylvania from 1842 to 1848. Also signed by William F. Packer as Auditor General. William Fisher Packer (April 2, 1807 - September 27, 1870) was an American politician from Pennsylvania who served as the 14th Governor of Pennsylvania from 1858 to 1861.
