New York. 1893. $1000 5% Specimen Bond with coupons attached. Black print with green border and underprint. Vignette of steamship with small craft top center. POC's and red SPECIMEN overprints. VF condition. ABNC. Letter signed May 15th, 1873 by Ezra Cornell after laying the cornerstone of Sage College for Women at Cornell University included in excellent condition. It states his views on education “From these halls sectarianism must be forever excluded. All students must be left free to worship God, as their conscience shall dictate, and all persons of any creed or all creeds must find free, and easy access and a hearty and equal welcome to the educational facilities possessed by the Cornell University.” Truly radical ideas in the late 19th century.
