1960. P-Unissued Essay Design. 1 Peso; 5 Pesos. Model, Artwork. Unique production file for proposed 1960 Cuban Banknote printing job by Security-Columbian Bank Note Company that never went to production. 1),2). 1 Peso. Unique hand drawn in pencil, essay designs, of front and back of 1 Peso notes. Portrait of Castro glued to front of note and Cuban coat of arms glued on back. Design on back was taken from a photo-proof of Cuban postage stamp. Notes are 5 by 2 inches. 3),4) 5 Pesos. Unique hand drawn in pencil essay designs of front and back. Portrait of Castro hand drawn on front of note and Cuban coat of arms hand drawn on back. Back design was taken from a photo-proof of Cuban postage stamp. Notes are 5 by 2 inces. 5) Photo proofs of models taken from the previous original artwork designs of the 1 and 5 Pesos notes on 1 sheet. Also included are cut down to bank note size photo-proofs of the 1 and 5 pesos notes that have the fronts and back glued together and single portrait proofs used on both notes in the correct size. 6) Intaglio printed cut down large die proofs including a Cuban revenue stamp for "Azucar Envase de 325 Lbs. Ley De Junio 23, 1938, Serie F No. 1" printed in black and included in file because the central vignette was used on the banknotes; a litho proof of the back vignette in back; text, border and numberal proofs used on the banknote. 7) 2 different large sized photographs of Castro that were used in the design. One has measurements of the reduction size requested. 8) Productions correspondence (6 items). Unique production file of a proposed 1960 Cuban banknote issue that was never printed. SBN. Choice group.
