1060 Main Street, Suite 202, River Edge, NJ 07661

The auction will take place on Thursday, October 10th, 2019 at AIA's office located at 1060 Main St., Suite #202, River Edge, NJ 07661 beginning at 10:30 AM
Bridgeton, NJ. $1 & $3, Oct. 1, 1839 and Jan. 8, 1840, Wait 138 & 147, R-?. Lot of 2 notes, both printed in black. The Cumberland Bank was incorporated in 1816. The bank operated conservatively, enabling it to convert to The Cumberland National Bank in 1865. The $1 note(Wait 138) is a counterfeit of Wait 137. Early printings, such as this note, have the 'J' in New Jersey printed backwards, with the bottom of the letter turning to the right rather than to the left. On later printings, this letter is clumsily corrected. The $3 note(Wait 147) is genuine. VG. MDF.
