Canton, Dakota, 1886. Lot of 4 I/C Bank Drafts for Various Denominations, All have black print on blue lined paper, Horse drawn farming tools at right and bank building at bottom left, All have facsimile imprinted revenue stamps at center, Cut cancelled and POCs. Checks are in VF to XF condition. These checks were issued during the final year of Dakota Territory banking before South Dakota achieved statehood in 1889, reflecting the growth of established financial institutions in a frontier region transitioning toward state governance. Territorial-era banking paper from local communities like Canton is sought after for its connection to settlement, agricultural development, and the rapid expansion of national banking networks in the northern plains.
