U.S. & Canada, ND (ca.1980-90s). 100 denomination, P-Unlisted, Uncut block of 6, "Dura" Note Polymer banknotes similar to Tyvek polymer material. Red brown on light green undertint. Face has ocean oil well drilling platform with ornate designs and back has light multi-colored cycloid security undertint only. CU to Gem Uncirculated condition. DuraNote polymer material was developed as part of a research project by Mobil Oil in the late 1980s to early 1990s. Different countries including the U.S., Canada, England, Venezuela, Mexico and others had there banknotes printed using this material to test it and see if it could be a useful paper alternative. Unfortunately, Mobil Oil merged with Exxon Oil and the project was halted. Banknotes from Canada, Mexico, Venezuela and Great Britain are the only countries that as of now, have examples of their notes printed on this polymer paper, all are extremely rare and desirable.
