Washington, D.C., Lot of 2 notes, includes 1895 $5 Silver Certificate. Hessler-SCE14. Rarity-7. Type of Friedberg 268 (W-799), Black on India paper only. Signatures of Tillman-Morgan. No plate letter. Central vignette, "Electricity Presenting Light to the World". Engraved Date "Series of 1895" instead of the issued "1896" series. Appears complete but a number of areas are not completely engraved as well as the finer details of some of the design elements, mainly those of the design border are not complete. Similar to the final 1895 proof. PCGS graded Choice About Uncirculated 55 with note of "Minor Mounting Remnants" on back. (Ex: Harry W. Bass, Jr. Collection); and 1896 $5 Silver Certificate back proof. Hessler-358. Green on India paper only. Portraits of Grant and Sheridan on the left and right. Appears complete. PCGS graded Very Choice Uncirculated 64. (Ex: Harry W. Bass, Jr. Collection, Ex: Thomas F. Morris Estate). A spectacular pair of notes that will enhance even the most advanced collections. BEP.
