Cairo, Egypt. Commemorative Silver 1 Pound Set, 1979–1980 (11 Coins), Choice to Gem Uncirculated condition. A complete and expanded group of eleven official silver 1-pound commemorative coins struck by the Arab Republic of Egypt between 1979 and 1980, each marking national progress during the presidency of Anwar Sadat. The 1979 issues include: International Year of the Child (KM-483); Industrial Development (KM-488); FAO Agricultural Development (KM-489); Education and Labor (KM-490); and Social Development (KM-491). The 1980 issues include: Peace and Olive Branch featuring Sadat’s portrait (KM-508); Labor and Productivity (KM-510); Reconstruction and Development (KM-511); Justice and Law—Scales of Justice beneath the Dome (KM-512); Mother and Child (KM-513); and Victory & Agricultural Progress (KM-514). All struck in .720 fine silver, 27 g, 40 mm, with Arabic calligraphic obverse inscriptions and the Eagle of Saladin national emblem. Brilliant Uncirculated with strong luster and matching cabinet toning; an impressive series illustrating themes of peace, progress, industry, and education during the late Sadat period. Each coin contains approximately 0.625 troy oz of pure silver, for a total of 6.88 troy oz of .999 fine silver equivalent for the 11-coin set.
