Westport, CT. 18xx (ca.1840-50), Uncut sheet of 4 notes, Printed in black on thin translucent paper, $1, $2, $3, $5; Unlisted sheet of 4 notes, the $1, $2 and $3 are payable at the Fairfield County Bank and the $5 is payable at the Morgan Ketchum & Co., in the City of New York, The $1 has young Indian in canoe with bird head flanked by cameos with allegorical reaper on left; the $2 has Mercury in middle flanked by Cameo portraits with allegorical women with cornucopias; the $3 has ship building scene in middle with sailing ships on left and right with cameos in all 4 corners; and, the $5 has man and woman looking at workers flanked by cameos with steamship on bottom and ornate end panels. The top 2 notes are in Choice to Gem Uncirculated, the $3 is AU to Choice Uncirculated with an internal paper fold and the $5 has a diagonal fold that keeps it from CU condition. UBSH, NY & Philada. Scarce sheet and very attractive.
