New York State Banking correspondence, ca. 1850-60s. From the Obsolete and early National Bank Note era, transmittal letters to and from banks, merchants and banking houses regarding collection on their notes or invoices. A variety of paper sizes, many letterheads. Banks include: American Exchange Bank, Bank of the Capitol, Utica City Bank, Herkimer County Bank, Oneida County Bank, Bank of Central New York, Agricultural Bank, Merchants' Bank, Bank of Pittsburgh, Albany City Bank, American Exchange Bank, Canajoharie Bank, Frankfort Bank, Ontario Branch Bank, West Winfield Bank, Market Bank of Troy, Merchants' Bank of Albany, Spraker Bank, Mohawk Valley Bank, and others. Most folded, some with slight stains or old paper loss at one fold. Overall nice Very Fine or better. Over 110 pieces. Deserves further research. Unchecked for signatures. Interesting window into pre-Civil War banking.
