Tallahassee, Florida, 1842. Florida, Slave Related Legal Documents in a Collection of Court Case Documents from the Superior Court in the City of Tallahassee. Several pages of handwritten sheets, describing a court case of the Superior Court of the Middle District of the Territory of Florida for the County of Leon. Most of the pages are held together by fragile ribbon at top center, however some have broken free. All of the documents refer to the case of Isham (spelling may be different) Johnson and Miles M. Johnson (also listed as Johnston) vs. William Wyatt and William H. Wyatt. The dense legal language mentions "goods and chattels, slaves, lands and tenements" of the Wyatts. Later on the piece, it is written that "No property found 22 July 1842." Last page has an embossed court seal in brown with ribbon underneath. Fine-VF condition but fragile with toning. Very interesting legal document that can be explored further.
