Jersey City, NJ. Lot of 4 Notes, Includes $1 (2), $2, & $3, April 2, 1827, Wait 883, 886, & 888, R-3. Four pieces. The Franklin Bank was incorporated in 1825 and suspended in October, 1826. It reopened in April, 1827, but closed after three months in July, 1827. All four notes are printed in black, with the same four vignettes, and blank reverses. The central vignette depicts Cybele seated in a chariot drawn by three lions. At left, is an oval portrait of Clinton, and at right is an oval portrait of Franklin. VG to Almost Fine condition.
