France.... Lot of 3 pieces. Includes: 1914_1918 Commemorative war medal, Red and white striped ribbon attached to a bronze medal featuring Minerva in profile wearing a helmet on obverse, "Grande Guerre 1914-1918" at center surrounded by "Republique Francaise" inscription on reverse. This was awarded to soldiers and sailors for service in World War I. It was also awarded to civilians who met certain requirements; 1914-1918 Inter-Allied Victory medal, bronze medallion with winged figure of victory on front, "La Grande Guerre pour la civilisation 1914-1918" on back. This is a French version of a common allied campaign medal where each allied nation issued a Victory Medal to their own nationals, all issues having certain common features. It was awarded to all soldiers who served three months, consecutive or not, between 2 August 1914 and 11 November 1918 in the war zone. It was also awarded to civilian nurses, aliens (civilian or military) who served directly under French command, Marshals and generals who had a command for at least three months, prisoners of war from Alsace and Lorraine who then served in the French forces; World War I "Infanterie" pin, featuring a portrait of a man at top, surrounded by acorns and laurels, Infanterie in rectangle underneath, dangling object held by metal clasp. Scarce military medals. (3)
