Great Britain, Bank of England 1797 & 1818, Counterfeiting Petitions. Great Britain, Bank of England, 1797 and 1818 petitions to the Bank regarding the proposal for new and more secure banknotes. Includes 3 pieces, including one 4 by 13 inch broadside for posting on notice boards; an 1820 Petition of Alexander Tilloch to the House of Commons, regarding the Security Printing method and contract with the Bank of England of Mr. Applegath, in which Tillock claimed to have invented the process in 1797. 3 pages; and, Prevention of Forgery, dated 1797, also by Alexander Tilloch discussing the counterfeit prevention methods, 4 pages. Scarce and interesting early anti-counterfeiting correspondence.
