Germany, 1916. Lot of 8 Issued POW Notgeld used in GroB-Poritsch POW Camp, Lot includes: 1 Pfennig, 2 Pfennig, 5 Pfennig, 10 Pfennig, 50 Pfennig, 1 Mark, 2 Mark, and 5 Mark. The Großporitsch prisoner of war camp was established during the First World War between Großporitsch and the Kleinporitsch outwork on the edge of the Zittau airfield. In the first years of the war, a settlement of barracks was built for prisoners of war, who were mainly used to build roads and paths in the area. From 1919 the prisoner of war camp served as a reception camp for German prisoners of war who had returned from abroad in the prisoner exchange. After a brief further use as a transit camp for resettlers from the parts of the provinces of Posen and Upper Silesia ceded to Poland under the Treaty of Versailles, the demolition of the camp began in 1920. Notes are in Uncirculated to CU condition. (8). Sold "AS IS" no returns accepted.
