Honolulu, S.I. (Hawaiian Islands), January 28, 1859. $3000, I/C First of Exchange, from R. Coady & CO., Honolulu, Light purple vignette and text on very light blue Paper, Vignette of Whale being harpooned and whaling boats and sailors floating next to the dying whale, the exchange was in payment for supplies for the "Bark Wavelet", the location on the exchange is "Honolulu, S.T.", short for Sandwich Islands, the name was changed to the Hawaiian Islands in 1840 but evidently, it was still referred by whalers as the "Sandwich Islands". The exchange was issued by Captain George Swain for provisioning the 300 Ton New Bedford whaler "Wavelet". This was the only whaling voyage she made, but it was a successful and prosperous one, returning 2714 barrels of whale oil and 34,133 pounds of bond. Tabor & Co., New Bedford, Printer.
