Hawaii, 1882. $500 Specimen 6% Coupon Bond, Black text with ornate red-orange border and undertint, Coat of arms of the Kingdom of Hawaii depicted at top center, King Kalakaua at left. Red specimen overprints, 0000 serial numbers, and POCs. VF condition with archival reinforced folds. Coupons feature a depiction of Kapi'olani. VF to XF condition, ABNC. Extremely scarce bond which pre-dates the 1887 Constitution of the Kingdom of Hawaii, which sought to strip the Hawaiian monarchy of much of its authority, initiating a transfer of power to American, European and native Hawaiian elites.
