New York Businessmen Duo, Includes ca. 1880, Henry Clews signed Letter, Fine condition ALS. Clews was an American financier who organized the “Committee of 70 “ that deposed of Boss Tweed in New York City; Peter Cooper (1791-1883) signed lined card, VF condition. Cooper was an industrialist and U.S Presidential candidate in 1876. He also started the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art (1848), an open admission free college for both and women that took into consideration the working class by keeping the library open till 10pm unlike the nearby Astor and Mercantile libraries.
