Chicago, Illinois. 1913, 20 Shares I/C Capital Stock Certificate for the Western Bank Note & Engraving Company, Low Serial #2, brown border and background with ornate design; issued to and signed by D.E. Woodhull, then president of the American Bank Note Company. Embossed corporate seal at lower left, bold printed company title at top, signed by officers as president and secretary. VF condition, Printed by American Bank Note Company, New York. Lot also includes a matching Western Bank Note Company Business Card with a micro-engraving of the engraving of the Declaration of Independence that was engraved in 1840, the company building is on the front, WBNC-ABNC. Woodhull was First Vice President of ABNC in 1913. Western Bank Note Company, founded in Chicago in the mid-19th century, was acquired by the American Bank Note Company (ABNC) in 1901. It continued under ABNC ownership as the Western Bank Note and Engraving Company, retaining a semi-independent identity through the 1910s.
