ND (ca. 1890-1923) 1 Tomans, P-1a. Unlisted specimen banknote. Black on pink and light green, portrait of Nasr-ed-Din on right, Arms with lion at left with "Payable at Tehran Only" in Farsi overprinted on top of it, back green on khaki green with Lion at center and overprint on top margin "Payable at Tehran Only" in English. 2 English Signatures on face with the right signature "A.O.Wood". Pin punch "Specimen" once in middle. Back has 4 serial number locations printed in black, UR, LL and two vertically in middle center, Serial #'s "A/L 000001 -A/L 100000. Crisp paper, vibrant colors and inks, sharp corners give initial appearance of CU condition, but the paper has a small are on the upper left that gives the appearance of possibly a paper clip mark and the middle right border has an area that appears slightly wavier then ideal, otherwise, the note is a beautiful example of this extremely rare note that is unlisted as a specimen. This is the first of 8 notes from this extremely rare and popular series that is sure to attract considerable attention. BW&C.
