Bombay, India, 5 August 1916, 5 Rupees, P-A6, Issued banknote, M. M. S. Gubbay signature with "B" for Bombay. S/N CD/80 125866. Black on pink underprint with large "5" in middle, back blank. The note appears XF at first glance but due to handling and 2 light folds would grade Choice VF with Exceptional Paper Quality, which is crisp and has never really circulated other then being folded for storage years ago and also the usual spindle hole on the left middle. This note was brought to America in the 1920's from a businessman who owned a tannery and traveled to India occasionally. This is the first time this note has ever been offered in auction.
