Overall, Captain Edward B. Millistin's contributions to the 2nd U.S. Artillery were significant, as he played a key role in training soldiers, leading them in operations, and ensuring that the artillery unit was prepared for the demands of a rapidly changing military landscape in the post-Civil War United States.
