Bulgaria, pair of uniface essay 20 Leva Zlatni (20 Leva in Gold), Unrecorded note and P-Unlisted, circa 1919-1920 judging by the signatures of the Ruler (left) or Cashier (right). Maroon color. Obverse essay depicts seated woman in traditional clothing, reverse essay depicts what appears to be an older sculpture of a woman on a horse. Previously mounted in a presentation album by Waterlow &Sons. UNC with mounting traces on blank reverse. Very rare. Designs believed to be by Mucha, the famous Czech artist on commission for Waterlow & Sons. Design unrecorded in Pick. Exceptionally rare and possibly unique color trial essays by W&S.
